HYDERABAD: Residents of Chandanaik Nagar in Ayyappa Society, Madhapur, are having a tough time with a severely deteriorated stretch of road that is riddled with potholes, posing a daily challenge for thousands living in the area. The 3-km stretch, a crucial exit for the people living in the residential locality comprising apartments and PG accommodations, has been worn down by the constant movement of water tankers and other vehicles. Locals say the road is rarely dry, and situation worsens at night when poor visibility and foul stench from stagnant water make commuting more unpleasant.

“The condition of the road makes it extremely difficult to drive out of the colony, especially at night,” said Saira Sheik, 25, a resident who uses the road daily.Aravind S, a software engineer residing in this area, said, “Despite paying high rents and living in a prime location, we are dealing with third-grade infrastructure.”The lack of proper drainage, unchecked movement of tankers, and poor road upkeep have led to repeated complaints to the authorities, but visible improvements remain elusive.A senior official from GHMC told TOI that the issue recently came under their notice. “Now that we are aware of the issue, we will take necessary steps to make the roads better in the concerned area,” she said.
