Ranchi: Resident doctors of the Rajendra Institute of medical Sciences (Rims) suspended their work on Sunday after relatives of a patient, who died during treatment, allegedly thrashed doctors on duty at the surgery ward.The doctors demanded tighter security arrangements not only inside the hospital but on premises.Rims Junior Doctors’ Association president Dr Jitendra Kumar, said, “The patient was admitted on Sunday with severe pancreatitis in a critical state. Doctors made all possible attempts to save him but he collapsed at the surgery ward.”The attendants of the patient assaulted the on-duty doctors with sticks while accusing them of negligence, he further said.“The doctors suspended work for around two hours and resumed work after the authorities assured them of tighter safety measures. Theft and other untoward incidents are happening with doctors on the premises regularly,” Kumar said.
