Panaji: RG president Manoj Parab on Monday criticised CM Pramod Sawant for reneging on his promises and said that Goa police is trying to silence and intimidate those who protested against TCP’s Section 39A by issuing summons to them.Parab was summoned on Monday to the Panaji police station, where he was questioned for nearly three hours. Parab termed the cases filed against protesters as harassment. He said that such tactics were not new and recalled similar incidents during the protests against the IIT.“This govt wants to threaten and silence people raising their voices,” said Parab.St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar directly accused Sawant of lying about not pursuing the criminal cases filed against the protesters who occupied the TCP office and subsequently marched to the TCP minister Vishwajit Rane’s private residence at Dona Paula.“The chief minister assured that he did not want to trouble those people against whom FIRs were registered. But now it has become clear that all those who were named in the FIR were served with notices. The chief minister lied. We put our faith in him when I told him that the old women who participated in the protest came to protect their village, and he agreed by issuing the suspension order,” said Borkar. He alleged that the BJP IT cell is spreading fake news by accusing him of being involved in land conversion for a real estate project at Azossim Mandur.
