Mumbai: Dr Reddy’s and Nestle Health Science is reviewing the brand name and advertising claims of its nutrition product Celevida GLP+, after a notice from FSSAI flagged misleading claims, MV Ramana, Executive Vice President and Head of Branded Markets (India and Emerging Countries), Dr Reddy’s said.
Speaking at a press conference, Ramana said FSSAI directed the company to continue selling the product, while it reviewed the claims flagged.
He said, “We have clarified our position with them, and they have asked us to continue the product. And we are having conversations in terms of the brand name and other elements. So, we are in constant touch with them and as and when we have more clarity we will come back and share that with you.”
FSSAI pulled up the product for misleading claims such as “High Protein Support for Lean Muscle Preservation during GLP-1/GIP Therapies” associating its consumption with GLP-1/GIP therapies and preservation of lean muscle.
The food regulator flagged that the product was advertised as “Complete Daily Nourishment” and “dependable nutrition in every serving”, potentially portraying it as a complete nutrition product or meal replacement.
