Patna: The state govt has directed revenue officials to launch a campaign to update land records of deceased landowners and transfer jamabandis to their legal heirs, revenue and land reforms department secretary Jai Singh said at a review meeting of circle officers from Gaya, Nalanda and Sheikhpura districts on Thursday.Concerned over delays in updating such records, Singh instructed officials to dispose of at least five cases each month. He said updating revenue records was a priority for the govt and stressed that revised jamabandis must be free of errors.On land mutation cases, Singh directed officials to take rule-based action against applicants who submit incorrect documents or provide false information. He also asked officials to conduct spot verification to establish the authenticity of documents submitted for mutation.The secretary said land measurement must be carried out on the scheduled date and should not be delayed due to the absence of the landowner. He directed officials to personally inform landowners about the date of measurement or communicate it through mobile phones. Notices should also be displayed at panchayat bhavans and circle offices.Singh further instructed officials to dispose of land encroachment and forcible occupation cases online through the Revenue Court Management System (RCMS).He said officials delivering exemplary work would be rewarded, while accountability would be fixed for unnecessary delays in disposal of cases. Participants included additional secretary Mahendra Pal, joint secretary Girdhari Lal and deputy director Mona Jha.
