Gurgaon: A day after a man was shot near NK Factory on Basai Road while he was on his way to a textile shop at Sadar Bazaar with his son, five men have been arrested. Police said the men planned to kill both Mahendra and his son Sahil to avenge a murder committed by Mahendra’s elder son last year.Two of the five accused suffered fractures in their legs while allegedly trying to flee a police team near Garhi Harsaru on Friday. A country-made pistol, a live cartridge and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime have been recovered.Mahendra was shot around 9.20 am on Thursday. According to the complaint filed by his son, three youths riding a motorcycle approached them from behind near Krishna Nagar. One of them allegedly fired at Mahendra before they fled.Mahendra was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police then registered an FIR at the Sector 9A police station under sections 103(1) (murder), 3(5) (common intention) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS and Section 25(1-B)(a) of the Arms Act.Crime Branch teams began working on the case using technical evidence and other leads. On Thursday, a team led by SI Pramod, in charge of Crime Branch Sector 10, arrested Pranav Parasaar (20) and his father Praveen Parasaar (45), residents of Devilal Colony.A separate Crime Branch Sector 40 team led by SI Lalit Kumar arrested three more suspects on Friday — Dev Sharma (22), Ankit (19) and Utsav (19). Police said the men had abandoned their motorcycle after being surrounded near Garhi Harsaru and attempted to run away. Dev and Ankit fell into a pit and fractured their legs.ACP (Crime) Naveen Sharma said, “Praveen’s elder son was murdered in 2025 over a personal enmity with Mahender’s son, Priyanshu, who had him murdered. Priyanshu is currently in jail. To take revenge for that, these people had conspired to kill both Sahil and Mahendra but were only able to kill the latter.”Police said the Parasars had arranged weapons for Dev, Ankit and Utsav to kill Mahendra and Sahil. “They had been hatching this conspiracy for quite some time. Pranav had brought the weapon from UP to carry out this incident. Three days earlier, he had provided it to Ankit, Utsav, and Dev to carry out the firing. They conducted reconnaissance, after which they murdered Mahendra,” ACP added.Police are now questioning the five accused to establish the source of the weapon, money transactions and the possible involvement of other people in the conspiracy. Further arrests may follow based on evidence emerging during the investigation.
