Mandya: Mandya police have arrested six persons in connection with the brutal murder of a 22-year-old youth near Srirangapatna, in what investigators describe as a revenge killing linked to an earlier murder case in Mysuru.The victim, Mohammed Suheb, a resident of Mysuru, was hacked to death on May 3 near Ganjam. The arrested accused have been identified as Syed, Mohammed Saif, Mohammed Masood Ahmed, Riyan, Khaliq Ahmed and another accomplice. All the accused are from Mysuru city.According to police investigations, the murder was the outcome of a long-standing rivalry between two groups in Udayagiri in Mysutu city. Suheb was named as an accused in the murder of Sophian that took place in Mysuru in Dec last year. Police said the accused had allegedly made two earlier attempts to eliminate Suheb but failed.The gang allegedly lured Suheb to Ganjam on the pretext of discussing a car sale. Once he arrived at the location, the assailants attacked him with deadly weapons and killed him on the spot. Investigators also revealed that the accused recorded a video of the murder and circulated it on social media.Mandya superintendent of police VJ Shobharani said three special teams were formed to trace the accused. She added that the rivalry reportedly began over a minor car collision dispute in Mysuru and later escalated into a deadly cycle of revenge killings. The case is being investigated by Srirangapatna town police.
