Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to attend the Telangana Global Summit-2026, scheduled to be held over three days from Dec 7 at Bharat Future City. Revanth held a courtesy meeting with Rahim Aga Khan at the Taj Falaknuma Palace. Minister Azharuddin, chief secretary Sanjay Jaju, CM’s advisor Ramakrishna Rao, several senior govt officials and representatives of the Aga Khan Foundation participated in the meeting.During the meeting, the CM urged Rahim Aga Khan to collaborate with the state in education, tourism, and healthcare sectors. He particularly sought the Aga Khan Foundation’s cooperation in restoring the City College and Osmania General Hospital building located in the Musi catchment area. Revanth briefed Aga Khan on the govt’s plan to rejuvenate the Musi river. He said plans had been prepared to rejuvenate the river and develop a night-time economy along its banks. Aga Khan was also requested to consider developing the existing Osmania Hospital building, recognising it as a heritage asset. The CM noted that a new hospital building is currently being constructed in Goshamahal.During the meeting, the CM expressed grief over the passing of his father, the late Aga Khan IV. The chief minister recalled the long-standing association of the Aga Khan family with the historic city of Hyderabad. Stating that the govt held the Aga Khan Foundation in high regard, the CM commended the initiatives undertaken by the foundation in Telangana. The CM observed that the foundation was playing a pivotal role in restoring Telangana’s heritage assets and informed Rahim Aga about the recent inauguration of the restored legislative council building, a project undertaken with the foundation’s support.Future City PlansTheir previous meeting during the inauguration of the Qutb Shahi Tombs, which were restored with the assistance of Aga Khan Foundation, was also discussed. When the CM explained his plan to construct Bharat Future City across 30,000 acres, Aga Khan evinced keen interest in the project and specifically enquired about its location, according to the CMO.The CM has already announced that the Future City is being established near Shamshabad Airport. The CM informed him that a Singapore-based company is currently preparing the master plan for the Future City project. The development of the Future City as a net-zero city, with a green zone spanning approximately 15,000 acres, was highlighted in the meeting. The CM also disclosed that prominent companies such as Amazon had already commenced operations within the Future City.$3 trillion economy goalRevanth outlined the state govt’s goal of transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He extended an invitation to Rahim Aga Khan to attend the Global Summit., which representatives from more that 100 countries are expected to participate in. CM’s Advisor Ramakrishna Rao briefed Aga Khan on the agreements the Telangana govt had recently signed with various world-class universities during CM’s visit to Britain and the United States.Ramakrishna Rao stated that institutions such as Harvard University and the London School of Business, along with other universities, had agreed to commence operations in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Yogita Rana, principal secretary of the state education department, requested the establishment of an Aga Khan University campus in Future City. Earlier on Monday, Aga Khan, upon his arrival, was received by minorities welfare minister Mohammed Azharuddin and TGMREIS president Faheem Qureishi. Governor Shiv Pratap Shuklaon Monday welcomed Aga Khan to Lok Bhavan during his first official visit to state after assuming his responsibilities.
