Gorakhpur: The redeveloped Madhuban Park at the Kauwabagh Railway Colony was inaugurated on Sunday by children of the colony in the presence of Northeast Frontier Railway (NER) general manager Uday Borwankar and seniorrailway officials, Sumit Kumar, CPRO, NER, said.Borwankar and other officials planted saplings in the park, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation and inaugurated the newly constructed outdoor badminton court by playing a friendly game with principal chief engineer Neelmani.The GM inspected various facilities developed as part of the park’s makeover, including landscaped greenery, artistic boundary wall paintings, walking pathways, shaded seating areas, children’s play equipment, fitness installations and the RCC outdoor badminton court. Appreciating the artwork on the boundary walls, he urged residents to help maintain the park’s cleanliness and upkeep.A total of 194 ornamental and landscaping plants have been planted in the park, including bela, ixora, kaner, ficus benjamina, gandharaj, cane palm, chandni, bottle palm, tecoma, bush kamini, desi hibiscus and Ashoka varieties, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and ecological value.Railway officials said the project is aimed at providing a clean, healthy and environmentally friendly recreational space for railway employees and their families. The revamped park features a modern entrance gate, well-designed walking tracks, shaded benches, children’s swings and play equipment, and sports infrastructure.Residents welcomed the initiative, saying the upgraded facility would promote fitness, recreation, environmental awareness and community interaction while providing children with a safe and well-equipped place to play.
