Jaipur: A retired bank employee, Vijendra Singh, 68, died in a scuffle with a neighbour on Patel Marg under Patrakar Colony police station Tuesday. The altercation broke out when he objected to a tempo traveller being driven through the narrow lane in front of his house. During the scuffle, he fell on the road. The incident took place around 8am.Singh lived here with his family. His neighbour Chhote Lal, who runs a travel agency, lives next door.Police have apprehended the tempo traveller’s driver in the case. DCP (south) Rajarshi Raj Varma said the exact cause of the death could only be ascertained once the postmortem report is available.He said Lal and his wife have also been detained and are being interrogated. Police said the primary probe has shown that Lal called for a tempo traveller Tuesday morning around 8am. It was to be sent to Ujjain. Singh’s family came out objecting to the tempo traveller’s entry into the lane. This led to a verbal spat between the two sides. As the argument escalated, Singh fell on the road during the scuffle.Seeing Singh unconscious, neighbour Lal and his wife fled from the spot. The tempo driver, Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Jhunjhunu, also fled with the vehicle. Family members took Singh to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police, upon receiving the medical information, arrived and took the body to Jaipuria Hospital’s mortuary. Police said an FIR would be registered against the accused for investigation.
