Prayagraj: Samajwadi Party (SP) organised a series of events across the city to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.Party leaders paid floral tributes and homage at the statue of Dr Ambedkar near the High Court Crossing.“The Indian Constitution drafted by Ambedkar remains the cornerstone of the country’s democratic framework to this day. It is the collective responsibility of all citizens to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution—namely, equality, liberty, and fraternity,” party MLC Mansingh Yadav said.Leaders asserted that if SP forms govt in the state in 2027 under the leadership of party president Akhilesh Yadav, continuous efforts would be undertaken to uplift the weaker sections of society in the fields of education, employment and social security.SP spokesperson Dan Bahadur Madhur said party workers organised various events at over 500 locations across all assembly constituencies of the district, engaging in extensive discussions regarding Babasaheb’s struggles, thoughts and principles, and pledged to establish a regime of social justice.Preparations had been made to install statues in Belwariya and Pacheda within the Koraon Assembly constituency. However, the local administration denied permission for the installation, citing issues regarding the land designated for the sites. In the Bara Assembly constituency, a statue of Babasaheb was installed at Dera Bari.
