Gurgaon: The city continued to reel under intense heat on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature rising to 43.4°C, up from 41.6°C recorded a day earlier, as heatwave conditions persisted across Haryana.Despite a sharp rise in daytime temperature, the city witnessed comparatively cooler nights. The minimum temperature dropped to 24.2°C on Tuesday, seven notches below 31.2°C recorded on Monday.IMD said heatwave conditions were observed at isolated places across Haryana, with Sirsa recording the state’s highest maximum temperature at 46°C. Warm night conditions were also reported from some pockets.District-wise warnings issued by the weather department placed Gurgaon under a “be prepared” heat alert for May 26 and 27, indicating the likelihood of continued heatwave-like conditions over the next two days.However, IMD forecast a change in weather from May 28 under the influence of a western disturbance. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in Gurgaon and several other districts between May 28 and May 30, which may lead to a gradual fall in temperatures.The weather department advised residents to avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses, particularly children, elderly people and those with existing health conditions.
