Pune: Residents of Hinjewadi IT park sought for a time-bound implementation of various infrastructure projects undertaken by various authorities in order to resolve long-pending issues affecting daily life. Representatives of IT groups, in an open forum held at Council Hall on Thursday, told deputy chief minister (DCM) Sunetra Pawar that they have been following up with some of the issues since 10-12 years.“I have been writing emails to various authorities on issues such as bad roads, heavy traffic and inadequate infrastructure since 2013. None of the issues have been addressed. We are still debating the same issues and saying same things even as we are in 2026,” Prashant Dhakane, a resident, said.Sachin Londhe, another resident, said the late deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, in 2025, had taken the administration to task over pending-issues but still no long-term solutions have been implemented. Residents said that the access roads to the IT park at various places, including Bhumkar Chowk, Lakshmi Chowk and Wakad flyover, are major pain points. They also highlighted that several large residential projects are coming up in surrounding villages but there are no roads or water and electricity supply to cater to the rapid urbanisation.Farmers from Hinjewadi and Maan said the govt should quickly acquire land required for developing three critical roads in the technology park. These include one section from Baner to Hinjewadi via Maan, flyover over Lakshmi Chowk and an alternative road from phase 1 to 2.They said the govt has been passing the buck between Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), public works department and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation as to which agency should acquire the land leading to inordinate delay in completing these projects.Acknowledging that the Hinjewadi infrastructure problems have been pending for long, Sunetra Pawar said, “I will visit Hinjewadi to examine the situation on ground. Residents are responsible and that they should reconsider their protest,” she said. Pawar told the citizens that she will take up the issue of 2 TMC water supply from Mulshi dam for cabinet approval.Despite these representations, no concrete decision was made on these issues in the meeting. District collector JItendra Dudi said that a task force has been constituted similar to that of Chakan and it will meet every Friday to provide timebound plans.PMRDA commissioner Abhijeet Choudhari outlined the agency’s plan of Rs420 crore involving footpaths and last mile connectivity for metro. He also said that the agency is ready to start operations of 12 metro stations on Hinjewadi line and development work of five more stations is close to completion.
