Jodhpur : The rescue operation to pull out nine-year-old Bhomaram, who fell into a borewell in Nausar village in Rajasthan’s Phalodi district on Thursday afternoon, continued on Friday, but teams were yet to achieve a breakthrough even after relentless efforts of two days and one night.Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been facing serious technical challenges due to a large stone lodged inside the borewell above the trapped child. The obstruction has made it difficult to lower rescue equipment and assess the boy’s condition through a camera.According to officials, the borewell is more than 1,050 feet deep, while Bhomaram is trapped at a depth of over 600 feet, reportedly around 640 feet. The stone, initially reported to be 15–20 feet above the child, has emerged as a major obstacle to the operation.Water and moisture inside the borewell have further complicated the rescue efforts. The operation resumed on Friday morning after a brief pause. As conventional methods failed to yield results, the administration called in Madaram, an expert in rescuing children trapped in borewells, to assist with an indigenous technique. His team has been trying to remove the obstructing stone using a specially fabricated device made by joining iron angles to form a pipe-like structure. An iron-rod framework is also being used in attempts to facilitate the child’s safe extraction. However, these efforts have not yet succeeded. The rescue team also reported that the camera lowered into the borewell became stuck in between and the movement of the boy previously visible on the monitor could no longer be seen. Teams are attempting to determine the stone’s size and position to devise an alternative method to remove it. The administration is also exploring other advanced equipment and possible rescue techniques.Phalodi District Collector and Superintendent of Police are present at the site, supervising the operation alongside the rescue teams. Phalodi MLA Pabbaram Bishnoi and Health minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar also visited the spot on Friday.SP Aditya Kakade said that the presence of stones in the line is creating trouble and the efforts are focused on removing them and get to the stuck child.According to police, the incident occurred at the agricultural field of Pancharam Bheel, where a borewell machine had developed a fault. While the pump was being pulled out for repairs, Bhomaram (9), son of Pancharam , who was playing nearby, accidentally fell into the open borewell Thursday afternoon. He is reportedly the only son of his parents.
