Remaining Mysore races cancelled – The Hindu

One of the two-year-old horses at Mysore Race Club Ltd that tested positive for Glanders, a contagious equine disease, succumbed to it.

Following this, the Karnataka government, vide its notification dated December 19, has declared a two-kilometre radius around the club as a “Notified Area” in accordance with the National Action Plan for Control and Eradication of Glanders in India. Strict restrictions have been imposed on the movement of equines, donkeys and mules in and out of the notified zone.

Consequently, the remaining races of the ongoing Mysore races 2025-26 stand cancelled.

The Turf Authorities of India has decided to postpone the Turf Invitation Cup weekend races to be held at the Mysore Race Club on Saturday, February 28, 2026 and Sunday, March 1, 2026, to a later date.
