Jaipur: Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat, Tejeshwar Poonia, Padmaja Singh and Vinay Pratap triumphed on the third day of the RD Baheti Memorial Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship at the SMS Stadium Indoor Badminton Hall here on Thursday.In the U-15 boys singles final, Yuvraj displayed a brilliant game and won the title by defeating Madhav Sharma 15-11, 15-9.The final of the U-17 boys singles was played between the Poonia brothers, in which Tejeshwar prevailed over his brother Tapeshwar in a tough three-game encounter 15-11, 11-15, 15-12.In the U-17 girls singles, Padmaja outwitted Khushi Sharma 15-6, 15-13 to claim the crown.The most exciting match of the day was the U-17 mixed doubles final in which Vinay Pratap and Padmaja rallied back splendidly to oust Harsh Kandpal and Pearl Parik 9-15, 15-12, 15-11 in a closely fought 48-minute outing to clinch the title.Apart from this, Lakshit Rewad and Mehul entered the finals in the U-11 boys singles category, while Rashi Singhal and Geetanshi Tank made it to the summit clash in the U-11 girls singles section.Organising secretary Atul Gupta informed that Thursday’s chief guest Dr Hariom Bamb, president, Jai Club and Arjun Baheti, grandson of late RD Baheti, honoured the winners and runners-up by presenting them with trophies, medals and mementos.On this occasion, Jaipur District Badminton Association secretary Manoj Dasot welcomed the guests and presented them with mementos. During the competition, there was significant enthusiasm among players, parents, and sports enthusiasts.
