RBSE Class 10 board exams twice a year from 2026-27.

The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) is set to introduce a two-examination system for Class 10 students from the 2026-27 academic session, giving students an additional opportunity to improve their performance within the same academic year. The move, announced by Rajasthan School Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar, is aimed at reducing examination pressure and offering greater flexibility to students.

RBSE Class 10 board exams twice a year from 2026-27

Under the revised examination system, Class 10 students will appear for the first RBSE board examination as a compulsory attempt. Students who qualify in this examination will subsequently be eligible to take the second examination to improve their marks in up to three subjects.

The first examination is expected to be conducted in February-March, while the second opportunity examination is likely to be held in May-June. Importantly, both examinations will be based on the complete Class 10 syllabus.

The Rajasthan Board’s official website is also carrying information related to the 2027 main examination, indicating preparations for the implementation of the new examination framework.

Second RBSE exam will give students an opportunity to improve marks

The second examination is primarily intended to provide students with an additional chance to improve their scores without having to wait until the following academic session.

Students who are satisfied with their first-examination performance can choose not to take the second examination. Those seeking better marks, however, can appear in up to three subjects, subject to the eligibility conditions prescribed by the board.

The system is expected to particularly benefit students whose performance in one or more subjects is affected by examination stress, illness or an unexpectedly poor performance on the day of the examination.

RBSE Class 10 best-of-two policy explained

A major feature of the new system is the best-of-two approach. For students appearing in the second examination for improvement, the better performance between the two attempts will be considered for the final result.

This effectively means that appearing for the second examination will not put a student’s existing marks at risk. If the student scores higher in the second attempt, the improved marks will be considered. If the second attempt does not result in an improvement, the better score from the two examinations will remain applicable.

The arrangement is designed to make the additional examination an opportunity rather than another source of pressure.

Who can appear for the second RBSE Class 10 board exam?

Students who qualify in the first board examination will be allowed to appear in the second examination for improvement in a maximum of three subjects.

The second opportunity will also be available to students placed in the supplementary category. Such students can use the examination to improve their performance in up to three subjects, including subjects for which they have been placed in the supplementary category.

Students who are absent from the first examination may also be permitted to appear in the second examination. However, this provision will be subject to the submission of a valid medical certificate or authorisation from the district education officer, as applicable.
