Prayagraj: A three-day district-level philatelic exhibition, Prayagphilex-2026, opened at the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) in Prayagraj on Friday, showcasing rare stamps and other philatelic material highlighting India’s heritage, culture and progress.The exhibition, being organised by the Department of Posts, has the theme “India Through Stamps – Heritage, Culture and Progress”. Addressing the gathering, Postmaster General, Prayagraj Region, Rajiv Umrao, said postage stamps were not merely a means of sending letters but also living documents of the country’s history, cultural heritage and eminent personalities.The exhibition aims to promote philately among schoolchildren and young people and encourage them to explore the country’s history through stamps. A special workshop and quiz for students will be organised on Saturday as part of the event.The exhibition, which will remain open at NCZCC from Oct 9 to 11. The event also seeks to promote stamp collecting as an educational hobby and strengthen interest in philately among people in both urban and rural areas.
