Prayagraj: Samajwadi Party state president Shyamlal Pal on Friday claimed that SP candidates would win a majority of seats in the MLC elections across Uttar Pradesh.Pal, who was in the city to attend a party function, sought support for Mansingh Yadav, the SP candidate from the Allahabad-Jhansi Graduate constituency. He said Yadav had earlier defeated the incumbent BJP MLC and expressed confidence that the Samajwadi Party would retain the seat with an even bigger margin this time.Pal also targeted state govt, alleging that it had failed on multiple fronts. He claimed the “double engine” govt had no answers to issues such as the closure of lakhs of govt schools, recurring paper leaks, examination irregularities, rising unemployment and the neglect of unaided teachers.Pal further said SP national president Akhilesh Yadav was working to realise the vision of governance envisioned by Bahujan leader Kanshi Ram.“The party will contest the 2027 assembly elections with the resolve to establish a government based on social justice,” he said.Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party organised a programme to mark Kanshi Ram’s death anniversary.Graduate constituency MLC candidate Mansingh Yadav described Kanshi Ram as a great thinker and a messiah of the Bahujan community. He alleged that BJP govt was “rattled by its own misdeeds”.“The public has lost faith in the BJP. While the BJP relies on deceit, money power and muscle power, the Samajwadi Party is entering the contest on the strength of public trust and the achievements of the education sector during Akhilesh Yadav’s tenure,” he said.
