Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh made his first public appearance in the early hours of Tuesday morning after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against him over his reported exit from ‘Don 3’.
Ranveer Singh spotted at Mumbai airport
The actor was spotted making a solo appearance at the airport in a simple kurta-pyjama paired with a Nehru jacket. Ranveer, who kept a low profile, was seen wearing a face mask and sunglasses as he stepped out of his car and made his way into the airport surrounded by security personnel.
FWICE boycotts Ranveer Singh
The spotting came just hours after FWICE issued its directive against the actor in a statement that read, “Considering the conduct displayed towards the Federation and the stakeholders associated with the project, the office bearers of FWICE have resolved to issue a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Mr. Ranveer Singh.”
Ranveer Singh responds to FWICE
Shortly after the announcement, Ranveer responded in an official statement through his spokesperson. The statement read, “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”Assuring that the actor will maintain his silence on the matter, the statement went on to add, “While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead. He continues to hold deep respect and goodwill for all those involved and sincerely wishes the franchise continued success. Choosing restraint and grace in moments like these has always been a conscious decision on his part, and he will continue to maintain the same stance.”
About the ‘Don 3’ controversy
The controversy erupted following a complaint filed by filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani with FWICE, alleging that they incurred losses of approximately Rs 45 crore during the pre-production stage of ‘Don 3’ after Ranveer allegedly exited the project at the last minute.“We will not work with Ranveer Singh after today whether it is cameraman, spot boy, lightmen or anyone else from our side. This non-cooperation will continue till the dispute is cleared. An artist becomes an artist because of the people, because of the members who work with us, the technicians, those who watch the movies. You leave a film which many people have worked on for three years,” FWICE honorary general secretary Ashok Dubey said at a press conference.
Ranveer Singh to go the legal route?
As per reports, Ranveer in his statement also noted that the issues raised were ‘contractual’ in nature and would require “adjudication before the appropriate legal forum.”
FWICE open to meet Ranveer Singh
The federation also indicated that it remains open to resolving the issue amicably. “FWICE remains open to meeting with Mr Ranveer Singh to hear his side of the matter and to take the issue forward towards arriving at an amicable and final resolution in the interest of both parties,” the statement added.
