Hisar: Panic gripped the trading community in Hansi on Friday after unidentified youths allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh in ransom from Himanshu alias Honey Sapra, owner of the well-known ‘Chhotu Mishthan Bhandar’, located opposite the old vegetable market.The incident took place around 2.45pm when Sapra was present at his shop. According to information, two youths arrived on a motorcycle. One of them got down and attempted to hand over a note to a shop employee. When the employee insisted that the note be given directly to the owner, the youths allegedly threw the note on the counter and fled.
On opening the note, the shop owner was shocked to find a demand for Rs 50 lakh as ransom. The miscreants reportedly wrote their names on the letter as well. The incident triggered concern among local traders. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, including its president, rushed to the spot after learning about the matter. Police teams also reached the scene and began examining the footage of CCTV cameras from nearby establishments to identify the suspects. Provincial president of the Haryana Pradesh Vyapar Mandal, Bajrang Garg, said the ransom demand created an atmosphere of fear among traders across the state. Speaking to the victim over the phone, he alleged that incidents of extortion, murder and robbery occurred frequently in Haryana, leaving traders, industrialists and the general public feeling insecure. He urged the govt to take strict and effective action to curb criminal activities and restore confidence among the business community.
