Surendranath Centenary Schoolcelebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour. The programme featured flag-hoisting, performances by NCC cadets and the school band, and patriotic songs and dances. A skit tracing India’s journey from Independence in 1947 to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 was the highlight. Principal Samita Sinha urged students to contribute to the country’s progress. “Viksit Bharat 2047 is not just a vision; it is a responsibility that each one of us must embrace,” she said.Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, marked the 80th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony, a parade by around 200 NCC cadets and student representatives, and patriotic performances by the school band and choir. Chief guest Mani Mekhla Das Gupta emphasised the role of education in character-building and instilling a sense of civic duty. Principal B N Jha urged students to uphold discipline, work hard and follow moral values.Oxford Public School, Ranchi, celebrated the occasion with the singing of all six stanzas of Vande Mataram, flag-hoisting and a march past by 144 students. The programme also included patriotic songs, cultural performances and an inter-house dance competition. Eliot House won the dance contest, while Byron House was adjudged the best contingent in the march past.
