Ranchi: Deputy commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri on Saturday directed officials to immediately assess crop damage due to the recent spell of incessant rainfall across the district and submit detailed reports for timely relief measures to the affected farmers.Reviewing the prevailing situation, Bhajantri asked the officials to monitor rain-affected areas and ensure that the extent of agricultural losses is documented without delay.“An early assessment would help the administration initiate relief and compensation measures in a timely manner,” he added.The deputy commissioner instructed all circle officers to conduct detailed field surveys in their respective jurisdictions to ascertain the impact of the rainfall on agricultural land, crops, and rural livelihoods on priority.Bhajantri also directed the district agriculture officer to undertake a district-wide assessment of crop losses and prepare a report on the total area of damaged crops, the number of affected farmers, and the estimated financial loss incurred due to the rains.
