Ranchi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested Budmu circle officer Sachidanand Verma for allegedly seeking a bribe to process mutation of 3 acres and 20 decimals of land in Brambe area of Ranchi district. The action followed Thursday’s apprehension of CO office staffer Rajesh Kumar and his brother Gautam Kumar in the same case.Subodh Kumar, who had applied for the land mutation, lodged a complaint with the ACB alleging the accused had demanded around Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 for completing the work. Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and arrested Gautam Kishore red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe.During interrogation, officials said the allegations against the CO and his staff were found to be true. The CO had allegedly asked Subodh to meet Rajesh when the applicant approached him over the long-pending mutation application for follow-up in the matter at the CO office.
