The makers of Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ have unveiled new posters featuring Lord Rama’s emotional farewell to King Dashrath. The visuals capture the personal sacrifices and difficult choices at the heart of the epic. Another poster shows Rama performing a solemn ritual in a river, offering a glimpse into the prince’s emotional journey. The makers shared the posters on social media with the caption, “A father bound by a promise. A son bound by duty. Neither knew this goodbye would be their last.”The release also follows the unveiling of character posters featuring Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara. Both characters influence the events that eventually lead to Rama’s exile from Ayodhya.
Lord Rama’s farewell to King Dashrath takes centre stage
One of the newly released posters depicts Lord Rama kneeling before King Dashrath. The king blesses his son as Rama prepares to leave Ayodhya for exile. The image captures the affection between father and son while hinting at the sorrow surrounding their separation.

A second visual features Lord Rama scattering ashes into the river. The surrounding greenery creates a quiet backdrop for the solemn act. Lara Dutta appears as Queen Kaikeyi
The makers have also introduced Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi through a separate character poster. Dressed in traditional royal attire and elaborate jewellery, the actor appears in a regal look suited to the character.The caption accompanying the poster read, “A queen. A mother. Two wishes that would betray a father’s love and change Rama’s destiny forever.”In the epic, Kaikeyi’s demands lead to Rama’s exile and place King Dashrath in a painful position. Her decisions change the course of events in Ayodhya and affect the future of the royal family.
Sheeba Chadha as Manthara plays a crucial role
Sheeba Chadha appears as Manthara in another character poster. The visual shows her holding a staff, offering a first look at her appearance in the film. The makers described the character with the caption, “A cunning mind. Whose whispers would turn a mother’s love into a kingdom’s darkest hour.”Manthara’s influence persuades Kaikeyi to claim two promises previously made by King Dashrath. Kaikeyi asks for her son Bharata to become king and for Rama to spend 14 years in exile. These demands trigger the events that force Rama to leave Ayodhya.
Ranbir Kapoor leads the two-part ‘Ramayana’ epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The makers are developing the project as a two-part cinematic epic based on the Indian mythological story.
