Jalebi, chole bhature and butter chicken are popular choices for many food lovers, but actor Rakul Preet Singh has a different take on some of these dishes. In a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on The Ranveer Show, the actor spoke about the foods she would prefer to avoid, explaining that what she had seen going into certain recipes had changed how she viewed them. When Allahbadia asked her to name seven things she would never eat in her life, Singh clarified that she was not completely opposed to trying them. “I shouldn’t say that I won’t eat. I have a habit that maybe I will take one bite but will avoid as much as possible,” she said. Her answers included a sweet that her mother loves, a popular North Indian meal, fried snacks and two rich dishes that left a lasting impression on her.
Jalebi is not her idea of a favourite sweet
Singh began with jalebi, a deep-fried sweet soaked in sugar syrup. Despite its popularity, she said she did not understand its appeal. “I don’t understand Jalebi, even though it’s my mom’s favorite,” she said. The actor acknowledged that it was a favourite in her family but said she did not share her mother’s enthusiasm for it.
She will eat chole but skip the bhature
Chole bhature was another dish Singh said she would rather avoid, although she made a distinction between its two main components. “Chola Bhatura. I’ll eat the Chola, not the Bhatura,” she told Allahbadia. The response prompted a humorous reaction from the host, who said, “I’m leaving, Rakul.” Singh’s answer suggested that she was willing to eat the chickpea curry but would pass on the bhatura, the deep-fried bread traditionally served with it.
Fried pakoras are also on her avoid list

Singh then named fried snacks, including regular pakoras and bread pakoras, as foods she was not particularly fond of. “Tala hua (fried) Pakora, Bread Pakora, Normal Pakora. I’m not a fan of that,” she said. She did not give a separate explanation for avoiding these snacks in the conversation. Instead, she moved on to another dish, warning that her next answer might attract criticism. “I’m going to get cursed a lot,” she said before naming butter chicken.
Why butter chicken changed her mind

Butter chicken was one of the more surprising entries on Singh’s list. Explaining her reaction, she recalled seeing the dish being prepared in a restaurant and noticing how much butter went into it. “Because I once saw a recipe in a restaurant. 4 tikkis, 4 tikkis of Amul butter were just poured on the dish,” she said. The sight stayed with her, and she joked about how much exercise she would need to compensate for the amount of butter. “I was like, I can’t even compensate for this in 4 days in the gym,” she said.
Seeing cheesecake being made put her off the dessert
Cheesecake was another food Singh said she began avoiding after watching how it was prepared. “Then I once saw a cheesecake being made. I swore that I can’t eat cheesecake then,” she said. She linked this reaction to the ingredients used in the preparation, adding, “Because again, it’s like that. There are too many things like this.” Although the question asked her to name foods she would never eat, Singh’s opening clarification is important to understanding her answers. She did not describe the list as an absolute ban. Instead, she said she might try a bite but would avoid these foods as much as possible.
