Momentum can swing a T20 game in an instant, and Karimnagar Diamonds learned it the hard way against Nalgonda Knights in TG20 on Wednesday.
Tanmay Agarwal and R. Sai Sharan provided a brisk start, but Diamonds collapsed after the first dismissal. Rain further shifted the balance, with Knights chasing the revised 117-run target with 18 balls to spare (DLS method).
Diamonds openers added 61 before Arfaz Ahmed dismissed Tanmay for a fluent 46 off 26 balls. The wicket triggered a dramatic slide as the Diamonds team lost four more wickets for just four runs.
Harish Thakur and Shubham Sharma briefly halted the damage with a 35-run sixth-wicket stand, helping Diamonds reach 130. Rakshann Readdi starred for Knights with four wickets.
In the shortened 17-over chase, Knights lost early wickets, but P. Nitish Reddy’s 33-ball half-century ensured there were no alarms. After his dismissal, Divesh Singh sealed the win with a straight six.
Earlier, Harshit Choudhary’s (121 n.o., 62b, 11×4, 7×6) blistering unbeaten century powered Warangal Warriors to a five-wicket win over Khammam Aces.
Aces stormed to 77 for two in the PowerPlay and strengthened their position through a 71-run fourth-wicket stand between Mayank Gupta and Mickil Jaiswal. But Mickil’s dismissal sparked a collapse, with six wickets falling for 27 in 22 deliveries as Aces slipped to 202.
Warriors lost Aman Rao early, but Harshit kept the chase on course. Key stands with Rishiket Sisodia and Bhavesh Seth put his team in control before Harshit raced to a superb 48-ball century.
The scores: Karimnagar Diamonds 130 in 20 overs (Rakshann Readdi 4/20) lost to Nalgonda Knights 121/4 in 14 overs (P. Nitish Reddy 52) via DLS method.
Khammam Aces 202 in 19.2 overs (Mayank Gupta 54, Mickil Jaiswal 54, Md. Abdul Malik 3/35) lost to Warangal Warriors 208/5 in 18.5 overs (Harshit Choudhary 121 n.o.).
