Rajkumar Wankhede (IRSE)assumed charge as the additional general manager of NCR.

Prayagraj: Senior Indian Railway Service of Engineers officer Rajkumar Wankhede assumed charge as additional general manager of North Central Railway.A 1990-batch IRSE officer, Wankhede completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Govt College of Engineering, Aurangabad, and obtained a master’s degree in structural engineering from IIT Bombay.During his more than 36-year career in railways, Wankhede served in several divisions and zones, including Ratlam and Vadodara divisions of Western Railway, Nanded division of South Central Railway and construction organisations of Western Railway, Central Railway and NCR. He also worked with RITES and Nagpur Metro in various capacities.Railway officials said Wankhede has extensive experience in railway construction, asset management and disaster mitigation. During his tenure in divisional assignments, he maintained an impressive safety record and supervised several projects related to the strengthening of tunnels, deep cuttings and speed enhancement on Rajdhani routes. He also played a key role in policy initiatives and anti-encroachment measures.In construction sector, he was instrumental in introducing engineering, procurement and construction contracts, consultancy agreements and measures for faster land acquisition. He has overseen construction of tunnels and several major bridges under new railway line, doubling and multi-tracking projects in UP, Maharashtra, MP, Gujarat and Rajasthan.As project head of Nagpur Metro, Wankhede gained extensive experience in metro rail construction and infrastructure development. Railway officials expressed confidence that his vast experience would contribute significantly to further development of NCR.
