Rajkot: Western Railway has retained the top position across Indian Railways in non-fare revenue (NFR) generation for the second consecutive year.Rajkot and Bhavnagar divisions contributed significantly to this achievement, generating Rs 4.01 crore and Rs 3.89 crore respectively. To recognize the officers and staff who played key roles, a felicitation ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Western Railway headquarters in Churchgate. The commercial department of the Rajkot division was honoured for its performance under senior divisional commercial manager Sunil Kumar Meena. “Rajkot division showed innovation, generating Rs 4.01 crore in NFR in the 2024-25 financial year,” Meena said. The division undertook initiatives such as displaying train information through LED TVs, setting up a gaming zone, creating parking facilities outside station premises, opening a canteen at the goods shed and installing hoardings and flex boards within station areas. Bhavnagar division was also recognized for its NFR performance under senior divisional commercial manager Atul Kumar Tripathi. The division earned Rs 3.89 crore in the 2024-25 financial year. “Bhavnagar division increased its revenue through several initiatives, including contracts for a gaming zone at Junagadh station, the DRM office canteen, the divisional railway hospital canteen and facilities such as retiring rooms, waiting halls and a cloak room at Veraval station,” Tripathi said.
