Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday rejected as “entirely false and contrary to facts” media reports about discussions at the party’s state core committee meeting, alleging a conspiracy to discredit and weaken the party. He particularly dismissed reports that BJP state general secretary advocate S Suresh had come under criticism at the meeting. Chandrasekhar said Suresh continued to enjoy the full confidence of the party’s national and state leaderships. He also maintained that no irregularities had taken place in connection with the assembly election and said the party had repeatedly clarified its position to the media.Chandrasekhar alleged that reports attributing discussions that had never taken place in the core committee meeting were driven by ulterior motives and violated journalistic ethics. “Party workers and supporters will not be misled by false campaigns carried out by vested interests. Any attempt to tarnish the party’s image among the public will fail,” he said.Chandrasekhar accused sections of the media of ignoring serious issues affecting the country and society while displaying excessive interest in the BJP’s internal affairs.
