BHILWARA: Celebrations turned into mourning Wednesday after two children were killed and three others seriously injured when a DJ pickup vehicle was reversing before a wedding procession in Gol Dungri area under Sadar police station area of Tonk district. The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Kuldeep and 10-year-old Dilkhush. The injured include 34-year-old woman Anta, eight-year-old Usha and seven-year-old Neha. Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena said the incident occurred around 5pm during a wedding ceremony in a Keer community family when the DJ was playing on the vehicle and children, women and men were dancing behind it. The driver reversed the vehicle 10 to 15 feet instead of moving it forward due to which some children and women came under it, he said. The injured were admitted to Tonk Saadat Hospital and Tonk district hospital, where their treatment was ongoing. The bodies were handed over to their family members after the post-mortem. Meena said, “A case has been registered against driver based on the family’s complaint and started investigation. People present at the spot said the accident happened due to the negligence of the driver. After the accident, family members also beat up the driver, and some people intervened and calmed the situation.
