Jaipur: The Rajasthan State Election Commission has begun preparations for urban local body elections due later this year, issuing the schedule for preparation of voter lists for 113 municipal bodies across the state.State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh said ward-wise electoral rolls would be prepared on the basis of the Assembly voter lists published on Jan 1, 2025. “The rolls will be updated, claims and objections will be addressed, and the final publication will be carried out as per the schedule,” he said.Under the programme, the final voter list is to be published on May 8.The exercise will also cover ward formation, determination of polling parts and their rationalisation in line with prescribed norms. Citizens who turn 18 by Jan 1, 2026, will also be eligible to register as voters.Officials said the process will cover 113 urban bodies in 40 districts, including two municipal corporations, 15 municipal councils and 96 municipalities.The two municipal corporations are Pali and Bhilwara. The 15 municipal councils are Kuchaman City, Sardarshahar, Karauli, Deeg, Gangapur City, Chomu, Lalsot, Bhiwadi, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Sirohi, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Pratapgarh.
