Budgam: Senior BJP leader Ravinder Raina on Sunday visited the residence of slain Jammu and Kashmir Police Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi at Lalpora village in Budgam district to offer his condolences to the bereaved family.

Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi was killed in the recent terror attack in Anantnag while performing security duties for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the family, Raina paid tribute to the fallen policeman, describing him as a dedicated officer who laid down his life in the service of the nation.

“Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the motherland. He was performing his duties with utmost dedication when he was martyred in the terror attack in Anantnag,” Raina said.

“The targeted killing of Ashiq Hussain is not only painful for the people of Jammu and Kashmir but for the entire nation,” he said.

Condemning the attack, Raina said terrorists were attempting to disrupt the return of peace and normalcy in the Kashmir Valley.

Raina further demanded that J&K Police personnel be provided with a dedicated risk allowance in recognition of the dangers they face while performing their duties.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Police has been fighting terrorism continuously and has earned appreciation for its outstanding service. Considering the risks they face every day, they deserve appropriate risk allowance along with other service benefits,” he said.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Raina said the people of Jammu and Kashmir would always remember the sacrifices made by the family.
