Amritsar: Heavy rain triggered a landslide in the hilly Dhar Kalan area of Pathankot district on Tuesday, disrupting road connectivity and isolating several villages, while Amritsar witnessed widespread waterlogging after hours of monsoon showers.Debris from a hillside blocked the Narayanpur-Ladheti road, snapping the link between several villages and the city. Flooded roads and disrupted transport also prevented many schoolchildren in Dhar Kalan from attending classes.In Amritsar, the rain brought relief from humid weather but inundated several roads and low-lying areas, slowing traffic and causing inconvenience to commuters. Residents blamed the city’s inadequate drainage system as water entered shops in some localities.The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall across Punjab over the next three days and advised people, especially those in low-lying and hilly areas, to avoid unnecessary travel during intense spells of rain.
