Chandigarh: With the Met department forecasting rainfall and strong winds in the coming days, the municipal corporation has issued a public advisory urging residents to take precautions to avoid accidents and damage to property.The civic body has advised people not to park vehicles under large, overgrown or ageing trees and to avoid standing or taking shelter beneath trees during rain and windy conditions. Residents have also been urged to minimise movement on tree-lined roads during adverse weather unless absolutely necessary.The civic body has further cautioned people against touching electric poles, streetlights and park lighting fixtures during or after rainfall, warning that they may pose a risk of electrocution. Citizens have been asked to maintain a safe distance from both trees and electrical installations throughout the period of inclement weather.Appealing for public cooperation, the corporation said the advisory has been issued in the interest of public safety and to safeguard city infrastructure during the expected spell of bad weather.
