The city recorded a dip in minimum temperatures on Saturday

GURGAON: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city for the next two days, forecasting light to moderate rainfall. The wet spell is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 60kmph.The alert comes as a western disturbance over the Himalayan region begins to influence weather patterns across Haryana from Saturday night. “Rainfall activity is expected to increase from Sunday across Haryana, with isolated places likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds,” IMD said.Meanwhile, the city recorded a dip in minimum temperatures on Saturday. At the Gurgaon KVK station, the minimum settled at 16.5°C, down from 18.5°C a day earlier. A similar trend was observed at the NorthCap University monitoring station, where the minimum temperature fell to 17.9°C from 20.1°C on Friday.Despite a cool start to the day, the daytime temperature reached 32.3°C at the KVK station, up from 30.6°C recorded on Friday. At NorthCap University, the maximum was 33.9°C, compared with 32.2°C the previous day.Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature has increased by 1.7°C but remained within the normal range. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 34.7°C in Nuh. Over the next two days, IMD forecast a drop of 3 to 4°C in maximum temperatures.“Rain and cloud cover will also lead to a drop in temperatures,” IMD said.Officials have advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms due to the risk of lightning and strong winds. They have advised people to avoid going out and not to take shelter under trees during thunderstorms and lightning.
