Srinagar, Aug. 3: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, while warning of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides at vulnerable locations.

According to the forecast, August 3 and 4 are likely to witness spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places, particularly during the afternoon, evening and early morning hours. Heavy rain, brief intense showers and torrential rainfall are also expected over a few districts.

From August 5 to 7, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places, with brief intense heavy showers expected at isolated locations.

The weather is expected to improve slightly between August 8 and 10, with the possibility of light rain and thundershowers at scattered places, although brief intense showers may still occur at a few locations.

In its advisory, the MeT Centre warned of the possibility of heavy rain and brief intense showers over a few districts of the Jammu division on August 3 and 4.

The weather office also cautioned that torrential rain and intense showers could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas over the next five days, advising people to remain alert and follow official weather updates.
