Srinagar, July 27: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast widespread rainfall and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in parts of the Jammu division, particularly around Udhampur and adjoining areas.
According to the forecast, a spell of rain and thundershowers is likely at many places on July 27, mainly from late afternoon to evening, followed by improvement.
From July 28 to 31, Kashmir division is expected to witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places, with brief intense heavy showers possible in a few districts, mainly during the early morning and late afternoon or evening hours.
The Jammu division is likely to receive several spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall and torrential showers at a few places. Udhampur and adjoining areas may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly around July 30 and 31, when weather activity is expected to peak.

The MET Centre has also forecast rain and thundershowers at many places on August 1 and 2, while similar conditions are expected on August 3 and 4, with the possibility of heavy rain and intense showers in some districts of Jammu division.
In its advisory, the weather department warned that torrential rain and intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable locations between July 28 and 31.
The general public, tourists, travellers and transporters have been advised to remain alert and follow advisories issued by the administration.
