Patna: Despite suffering losses due to vandalism of railway property during the Bihar Police recruitment examinations earlier this month, the railways has once again stepped forward to facilitate smooth movement of aspirants by operating 18 special trains on Wednesday.Nearly 50 seats in special train coaches were damaged by some candidates during the June 17 examination in Samastipur division of the ECR.According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, seven special trains will be operated on Wednesday on Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir, Kiul-Gaya, Rajgir-Bakhtiyarpur, Nawada-Jhajha, Buxar-Danapur, Jhajha-Patna and Gaya-Kiul routes falling under Danapur division of the ECR. The special services have been planned keeping in view heavy rush of candidates appearing in the Bihar police recruitment examinations being conducted at various centres across the state, he said.Adequate arrangements have also been made at stations to regulate passenger movement and ensure smooth boarding and de-boarding of aspirants, he said.The railways had similarly operated six special trains on Tuesday to transport examinees to their destinations. The additional services received a positive response from candidates and helped reduce overcrowding in regular passenger trains either originating from or passing through Danapur division, Siddarth said.Railway authorities appealed to examinees to maintain discipline and protect public assets while travelling.According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, in addition to these seven trains, the railways has decided to run 11 more special trains on the Patliputra-Katihar, Katihar-Patliputra, Darbhanga-Patliputra, Samastipur-Patliputra, Muzaffarpur-Patliputra, Madhubani-Gaya, Madhubani-Bhabua Road, Purnia Court-Patliputra, Bettiah-Patna, Supaul-Patliputra and Naugachia-Patna routes to cope with the rush on Wednesday.
