Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, accusing them of destroying the Constitution and called them ‘traitors’.

Addressing a party workers’ meeting in Amethi, he said: “What would you call a person who attacks and destroys the Constitution? You would call him a traitor. That is why I have openly stated that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are attacking the Constitution. They have handed over the nation’s assets to Adani and Ambani, dismantled the country’s institutions, and aided in the theft of votes.”

“Members of RSS, take note: You demanded that I apologise, but I will never apologise. I reiterate that Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are traitors because they have attacked the Constitution,” Gandhi said.
BJP launched a multipronged attack on Gandhi and several senior leaders and ministers condemned his statement. BJP chief Nitin Nabin condemned the remarks, calling them “unfortunate” and an insult to the country’s 140 crore people. “The kind of statement he gave clearly reflects his anarchic mindset… It also shows his frustration over electoral defeats…”
