Ranchi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to Jharkhand chief minister (CM) Hemant Soren, urging him to personally meet representatives of agitating students protesting alleged irregularities in state recruitment examinations and help resolve their concerns. Gandhi reiterated the Congress party’s support for peaceful protests by students referring to the ongoing agitation and described their demands as “legitimate”. The stir entered 24th day on Monday.“I acknowledge that the Jharkhand govt had initiated a dialogue with the students through a committee constituted by the chief minister. There appeared to be agreement on several of the issues. However, some students remain on an indefinite hunger strike. It requires your intervention by personally meeting them to pave way for a resolution to break the impasse,” he wrote.The letter comes amid sustained protests by recruitment aspirants over alleged examination irregularities, paper leak allegations, and demands for greater transparency and accountability in the state’s recruitment processes. The issue has emerged as a major political flashpoint, drawing support from opposition leaders, civil society groups, and student organisations.“The youth of India is its future. We owe them our solidarity and support at this moment of crisis,” Gandhi wrote, urging the CM to hear the students’ concerns and take appropriate action for resolving the issue.
