Vadodara: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit the city on Monday. Gandhi will attend a convention in the city on issues affecting tribal people.The convention has been organized by the Scheduled Tribes (ST) wing of the party. The convention will last around five hours, and Gandhi is scheduled to spend around an hour there.Chairman of the All India Adivasi Congress Vikrant Bhuria told mediapersons here that tribal people make up around 14% of the population of the state. He added that despite their large numbers, they are exploited. He said the party will fight for constitutional rights of tribals.Leader of opposition in the state assembly Dr Tushar Chaudhary said the programme is not aimed at canvassing for votes. He said the focus will be on discussing issues faced by tribal people in the state and possible solutions.Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda said Gandhi will hold a dialogue with activists, women, professionals, entrepreneurs and workers from tribal areas. He added that these people were fighting for the rights of tribals.
