Bhubaneswar: Two persons riding a speeding motorcycle were killed on Tuesday night after it rammed into a vehicle on Khandagiri flyover.Police said the motorcycle’s front portion was damaged and mangled, portraying the speed and impact of collision. “One of the victims turned out to be a criminal facing multiple charges,” police said.The deceased were identified as Rashmi Ranjan Das, 28, a resident of Kendrapada and Biswa Ranjan Patnaik, 30, a resident of Balasore. Das has criminal antecedents.“The two persons, who died in accident, were racing their motorcycle with another. While racing, the biker lost control and hit the vehicle. Whether they were drunk is yet to be ascertained. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem to Capital Hospital,” said DCP Jagmohan Meena.He ruled out that it was a case of hit-and-run and added that the damaged front portion of the motorcycle is an evident that the deceased had not been hit from behind. “We are retrieving CCTV footage to see if there is any foul play. But preliminary investigation points to just an accident due to reckless driving,” a police officer said.
