T’puram: BJP’s Vattiyoorkavu candidate R Sreelekha walked off the stage at an election campaign event after Union minister S Jaishankar did not mention her name during a speech. The incident occurred during a meeting of prominent figures from the Vattiyoorkavu constituency, where Jaishankar failed to mention Sreelekha. Leaders managed to persuade Sreelekha to return later. The event took place at Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, where the foreign minister met with notable individuals from Vattiyoorkavu. BJP candidates R Sreelekha and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who is contesting from Nemom, were present on stage. In his video speech, Jaishankar did not mention Sreelekha’s name and urged support for Chandrasekhar. Upset by the omission at the Vattiyoorkavu event, Sreelekha left the stage while Chandrasekhar was speaking. After party leaders persuaded her to return, Sreelekha expressed her dissatisfaction to Chandrasekhar and Thiruvananthapuram mayor V V Rajesh.
