New Delhi: Public Works Department (PWD) plans signage upgrades in Rohini, and new footpaths and drainage on key corridors, to improve road safety and pedestrian infrastructure across north and north-west Delhi. The department earmarked around Rs 97.9 lakh for signage works in Rohini. The project includes surveying roads for missing or damaged signs and preparing fresh drawings as per Indian Roads Congress codes and ministry of road transport and highways specifications. “The push comes amid widespread defacement, torn reflective sheets and missing boards across parts of the city, which reduce night-time visibility and compromise road safety. Similar corrective drives were earlier taken up in East and South Delhi,” sources said. PWD also proposed major footpath and drainage works on Bhamashah Road and Lucknow Road—2 important north Delhi stretches. The department plans to spend about Rs 5.5 crore on the construction at Bhamashah Road and around Rs 2.4 crore for similar work at Lucknow Road. TNN
