Thiruvananthapuram: State govt will prepare an action plan to complete projects in a timely manner and will take up new bridge beautification work, said PWD minister P K Basheer.Speaking with the media after a review meeting with senior officials on Wednesday, Basheer said there are many roads and bridges that have been under construction for years without completion.“Priority will be given to completing such projects, which have been delayed due to various reasons,” he said.He urged officials to adopt a practical approach and resolve technical obstacles to complete the projects.Basheer announced new projects for beautification of bridges and junctions. “Assistance from public and private institutions will be sought for enhancing the appearance of these structures. Guidelines will be prepared, and a system will be set up to allow the department to directly spend the funds,” he said.“An adalat will be organized for officials to expedite the resolution of promotions and disciplinary actions in public works department. Practical projects that can be included in the chief minister’s upcoming 100-day action programme will be submitted soon,” said Basheer.Meanwhile, the minister instructed officials to carry out inspections ahead of the monsoon season.Govt is aiming to bring all public roads in the state to 100% BM & BC (bituminous Macadam and bituminous concrete) standards, Basheer said. There are no political or other interests in the development activities, he added.
