Ramgarh: Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), a joint venture between the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Jharkhand govt, on Tuesday successfully synchronised its second unit of 800 MW installed capacity. The synchronisation came four months after its first unit, also of 800 MW installed capacity, was declared commercially operational on Nov 5 last year.“Super Critical Thermal Power Project’s unit-2 of 800MW capacity in phase-1 construction, has been synchronised. The Unit-2 of 800MW capacity marked a major milestone in the project’s journey,” PVUNL said in a statement.Synchronisation, PVUNL officials said, is running various sections of the power unit at one time.A K Sehgal, CEO, PVUNL, said, “The successful synchronisation of Unit 2 stands as a testament to strong teamwork, meticulous planning, and seamless coordination among PVUNL, BHEL, and all associated stakeholders. This achievement will pave way for a more energy-secure future.”PVUNL is setting up a 4000MW capacity super critical thermal power project in two phases. In phase-1, 3x800MW capacity units and, in phase-2, 2x800MW capacity units are to be installed. As per the MoU signed between NTPC and state govt, 85% of the power generated will be go to Jharkhand.
