Pvt bus rams car in Chityal, 4 killed

Hyderabad: Four persons, including three members of a family, died after a private travels bus rear-ended their car on National Highway-65 at Peddakaparthi in Chityal in Nalgonda district on Sunday morning.Chityal police said that Srikar Prasad, 62, Vijaya Lakshmi, 42, and her two children — Sriya, 16, and Prabhav, 12 — died on the spot. Car driver MBV Prasad, a bank manager and husband of Lakshmi, escaped with injuries.The manager’s family, along with their relative Srikar, was travelling from Chennai to Hyderabad when a private bus, which was moving from Vizag to Hyderabad, hit the car from the rear at Peddakaparthi around 5am. Lakshmi and her two children were on the rear seat, while Srikar was in the front passenger seat.Due to the impact of the collision, the car was completely damaged. The accident hit traffic on the busy Vijayawada-Hyderabad NH-65. On learning about the accident, the local police rushed to the spot. With great difficulty, the manager was rescued and the bodies were extricated from the remains of the mangled vehicle. Police deployed a proclainer to break the car open.“During the preliminary investigation, we found that bus driver Ramana Babu’s negligence led to the accident,’’ Chityal inspector S Suresh told TOI.Police registered a case under Section 106 (Causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the bus driver. No one seated in the bus suffered any injuries. The bus driver was taken into custody. Based on the documents and mobile phone recovered from the car, the victims were identified and their family members were contacted. It took nearly an hour to clear traffic on the highway.
