Hisar: A Punjab excise department inspector was found dead inside a parked car on Amritsar-Jamnagar Bharatmala Road in Haryana’s Sirsa district late Friday. A pistol lay inside the vehicle but there was no apparent gunshot wound.Karamjit Singh, 45, was a native of Cheema village in Ludhiana, and was posted in Punjab’s Moga district. His body was found wedged between the two front seats, with the seat belt fastened across his abdomen.According to police, locals noticed the vehicle parked near Kalanwali bridge in Dabwali around midnight and were concerned when there was no movement for a long time. They alerted police, who found Singh unresponsive. Using information on his mobile phone and identity card, police called his family.Singh’s kin told police they couldn’t understand why he had travelled nearly 200km from his place of posting.Police have sent the pistol for forensic tests and are examining call records and mobile location. ASI Sukhdev Singh of Dabwali City police station told mediapersons that preliminary findings suggested a heart attack but the cause of death would be confirmed only after postmortem.
