Sangrur: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday flagged off 50 LED-equipped mobile documentary vans that will travel across nearly 13,000 villages in Punjab to spread the message of equality, social justice and universal brotherhood of Guru Ravidass, as part of the year-long celebrations marking his 650th Parkash Purb (birthday anniversary).The campaign, for which Punjab govt has earmarked Rs 100 crore, will screen a 30-minute documentary on Guru Ravidass’s life, philosophy and teachings in all 23 districts, with a special focus on connecting the younger generation with his ideals.Calling the initiative “another meaningful step showing the state’s devotion and respect for Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj”, Mann said, “We are making every possible effort to celebrate the 650th Parkash Purb in a grand manner. It is our collective responsibility to take Guru Ji’s message to every corner of the world.”The chief minister said Guru Ravidass envisioned an egalitarian society free from discrimination and devoted his life to the welfare of humanity. “Punjab govt wants to build a society inspired by Guru Ji’s teachings, where every person lives with self-respect and dignity without discrimination,” he said.Mann said the vans would move from village to village with 12×8-ft LED screens to showcase the documentary. “The central objective is to take Guru Sahib’s timeless message of social equality and devotion to every household and inspire the younger generation to help build a harmonious society,” he added.
